Jan Wheeler, PhD

I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with individual adults in the areas of:

-trauma and abuse
-grief and loss
-life transitions
-stress management
-relaxation training
-EMDR
-anxiety and depression
-family of origin issues

I try to create a calm, safe atmosphere in which an individual can feel comfortable enough to learn self-acceptance and self-forgiveness. I help people learn skills to manage their stress and give support during times of loss and transition. I guide them through issues of trauma and abuse at a pace that feels right for them.

I also see couples. I consider the relationship to be my client as I help both partners learn better communication skills. I help them find ways to create a foundation of friendship and a more balanced relationship. I encourage an atmosphere in which both partners can express feelings, be heard, ask for what they want and get their needs met.
